The couple that plays together, stays together.
Lately, my boyfriend and I have been having weekly "date night WODs." While these aren't the most romantic of dates, they sure are fun! There is something about working together, cheering each other on through difficulties, and even getting a little competitive, that never fails to bring me closer to my man. Sometimes, I am not really in the mood to workout, but not once have I regretted it!
Since we both have kids and busy schedules, we choose to do these workouts at home after the kids are in bed. We use common objects around our house, like a kids sled, a garbage can, a dumbbell, a chair, and an empty keg, and turn the objects into a workout.
Load that kid's sled with some bags of dog food: Sled Pull for time
Lay the garbage can on the ground: Burpee jump-overs
Dumbbell: Dumbbell clean press
Set the chair in the garage: elevated push-ups
Empty Keg that's collecting dust in the corner: Overhead carry for time
With creativity, anyone can make a garage gym. There is no excuse not to workout when you can use everyday objects in unusual ways. The workouts are tough, but nothing beats the feeling of working together to get a job done! Getting your sweat on is also a pretty good excuse to conserve water and hit the showers together! ;)
